Dr Layla Institute for Educational Excellence is committed to assessing public liability risks, arranging appropriate insurance where needed and responding responsibly to incidents connected with its activities.

Internal policy Effective date: To be confirmed Annual review
01

Safe and Responsible Professional Activities

This policy describes how the Institute assesses public liability risks, checks insurance requirements and manages incidents relating to professional development, consultancy and other educational activities. Insurance cover remains subject to separate purchase, verification and the insurer's terms.

02

Purpose

Dr Layla Institute for Educational Excellence is committed to providing safe professional development, consultancy and related educational activities. This policy explains how the Institute assesses public liability risks, arranges appropriate insurance where needed and responds to incidents arising from its operations.

03

Scope

This policy applies to activities arranged or delivered on behalf of the Institute, including face-to-face CPD workshops, school visits, consultancy meetings, training events and any premises used for business purposes.

Online-only activities will also be assessed for relevant risks, although public liability insurance may not be the principal cover required.

04

Public Liability Insurance

Public liability insurance may respond, subject to the insurer's terms, exclusions and limits, to third-party claims for bodily injury or property damage arising from insured business activities. It does not automatically cover professional advice, employee injuries, cyber incidents or every contractual liability.

The Institute will confirm applicable legal, licensing, venue, client and accreditation requirements before commencing relevant activities.

Coverage reminder: The scope of cover depends on the actual policy wording, exclusions, limits and insured activities.
05

Insurance Arrangements

Before any activity requiring cover takes place, the Institute will seek suitable insurance from an authorised provider and verify that the policy covers the actual services, territories, venues, personnel and delivery arrangements.

The Institute will retain the policy schedule and certificate, note renewal dates and review cover limits in light of contractual requirements and risk exposure. No representation that insurance is active will be made unless valid cover has been confirmed.

06

Risk Assessment and Prevention

The Institute will assess foreseeable risks before in-person activities, including venue accessibility, trip hazards, electrical equipment, participant numbers, emergency exits, first aid arrangements and any reasonable adjustments.

School and venue safety procedures must be followed. Any identified hazards should be addressed before activities proceed.

07

Freelance Trainers and Consultants

Freelance facilitators must follow the Institute's health and safety instructions and any applicable host-school rules. Before engagement, the Institute will establish whether freelancers are covered under its policy or must maintain their own appropriate insurance.

These arrangements will be documented in the relevant agreement; cover will not be assumed.

08

Incidents and Claims

Accidents, injuries, damage, near misses and complaints involving possible liability must be reported promptly to the Institute's designated representative. Relevant facts, witness details and available records should be preserved securely.

Where required by the policy, the insurer will be notified without undue delay. Staff and freelancers must not admit legal liability or promise compensation on behalf of the Institute.

10

Responsibilities and Review

The Institute's management is responsible for reviewing insurance needs, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place before relevant activities and communicating this policy to staff and freelancers.

This policy will be reviewed at least annually, and earlier if services, locations, legal requirements or insurer terms materially change.
