Dr Layla Institute for Educational Excellence
CPD Reasonable Adjustments Policy
Supporting fair access to professional learning and assessment for adult educators, while maintaining essential learning outcomes.
Policy scope
This document applies to adult educators undertaking Dr Layla Institute for Educational Excellence professional development independently or through a school or employer.
Initial delivery is through self-paced online CPD e-modules and, where offered, live online sessions. Face-to-face activities may be introduced only after the applicable permissions, licences, venue safeguards and any necessary accreditation or course-delivery approvals have been confirmed. No course is described as CPD-accredited unless formal approval has been granted for that course and delivery format.
Commitment
Dr Layla Institute for Educational Excellence aims to provide fair access to learning and assessment for adult educators with disabilities, long-term conditions or other relevant access needs, without compromising the essential learning outcomes.
Requesting support
Learners can request adjustments before enrolment or at any point during their course by contacting [email protected]. Early notice helps us make arrangements, but requests are not automatically refused because they are made later.
Possible adjustments
Depending on the course and platform, options may include:
Available adjustments depend on the course, learning platform and individual circumstances.
Decision making
Requests are considered individually and confidentially. Dr Layla Institute for Educational Excellence will discuss practicable alternatives where a requested measure cannot be provided and explain any decision. Only information necessary to assess the request will be sought.
Assessment integrity
Adjustments should remove unnecessary barriers while preserving the competence or learning outcomes being assessed. Special consideration may be available for significant unforeseen circumstances.
Concerns and appeals
A learner who disagrees with an adjustment or assessment decision may use the Appeals Policy.
